PT9 C-Proof
 
The PT9 C-Proof is a sea water resistant underwater locating device. This underwater acoustic beacon has been tested to, and meets or exceeds, all requirements of SAE AS 8405. It is specially designed for Data Protective Capsules (FRM) of Voyage Data Recorder (VDR/S-VDR) Systems. It withstands the rough environmental conditions of maritime navigations, high-G impact shock and deep water immersion. The PT9 C-Proof is a battery powered device, which radiates a pulsed acoustic signal into the surrounding water upon activation by its water sensitive switch. The Beacon operates over a period of 30days when immersed in fresh or salt water. It is mounted to a data protective capsule by means of a mounting kit.
The Idea of PT9 C-Proof was, to develop an Acoustic Beacon especially for VDR and 5-VDR capsules in maritime navigations. For this purpose, there were selected materials and coatings, which have proved themselves suitable to withstand the rough environmental conditions on deck of a ship. Furthermore the housing and the water sensitive switches are galvanically aligned.
In addition to the corrosion-resistant parts, like housing and water sensitive touch, the PT9 C-Proof is essentially different from known acoustic beacons, by its patent pending intelligent activation. Disruptive factors like rain, spray, condensate, detergents, etc are ignored by this capacity.
