Diesel engines
As a leading Scania dealer, Veth Propulsion supplies new and revised engines like the conventional propulsion with reverse arrangement gear, or with bow thrusters or rudder propeller. Scania has marine and industrial engines in the range from 150 to 445 kW, which are applied for a/o propulsion, generator, pump, and bow thruster propulsion. Low fuel and motor oil consumption are characteristics of the Scania engines. The sets can also be constructed in a comfortable sound insulating housing.

Generator sets
Veth Propulsion also constructs, in conjunction with a.o. Scania and SisuDiesel ship generator sets from 44 to 500 kVA on it's own premises. The sets can also be constructed in a comfortable sound insulating housing. Veth Propulsion has wide experience with well-established classification institutes, and items can be supplied according to the most diverse specifications.

Ballast pump
This pump, developed by Veth’s own technical department, requires an absolute minimum of pipework. Another advantage is that it can be used in two rotational directions. There is therefore no requirement for the pump to be connected to a suction- or pression box. It is solid, robust and compact. Instead of an impeller, a special propeller has been developed which produces almost the same pumping capacity whether filling or emptying the ballast tank.

When power is applied, it is possible to pump a large capacity of water with a very small amount of input power. This makes this pump ideal for ballast pumping. The pump is also ideally suited as a pump for water stabilizing systems. At this moment, the Veth ballast pump is available in two different executions. (1) The VP 14, can pump more than 1000 cubic/hour with only 7,5 kW! (2) The smaller pump, the VP 8, can pump 400 cubic/hour with 4 kW. Thanks to its small dimensions, this pump is easy to install, also in existing vessels.

Bow rudders
It consists of two rudder blades, which are mounted straight on the surface of the front of the ship and operated through two hydraulic cylinders with stainless steel bars. The blades are available in three sizes: 200, 220, and 240 cm. The total installation height is 262 cm. The blades project beneath the ship for a maximum of 65 cm. The control takes place with a follow-up steering handle that looks like a pilot. Switching from full starboard to full port takes twelve seconds. An advantage of the Veth bow rudder is the limited power required for the control.
